Town of Torbay: A Case Study

 

Tract Consulting has worked with the Town of Torbay on a number of marketing-related projects. It began with the development of a brand for the Town. In working through a creative brief process with the Town, the resulting brand was beautiful Torbay.

 

The Town embraced the brand with open arms and began implementing the philosophy of beautiful Torbay to every aspect of the Town. Soon thereafter, the Town wanted a strategy to be able to share its beauty with others. Tract developed a Tourism Master Plan for the Town based on an evaluation and inventory of key tourism assets. Tract positioned the Town and extended the brand for Tourism purposes; a series of advertisements and a tourism website concept were created. Both promotional aspects were well received; Tract has continued to develop several advertisements for the Town. Furthermore, Tract designed the Town’s entire website using the tourism website concept. The website has recently won the 2011 Economic Developers Association of Canada’s Marketing Canada Award for Best Website.

 

Perhaps the piece of marketing collateral of which Tract is most proud is the Torbay Community Profile entitled beautiful Torbay. The approximately 60-page bound book is meant to be resourceful for potential residents, tourists, and businesses alike and is written in a creative voice. The Community Profile has recently won international, national, and provincial economic development awards, including:

 

  • International Economic Development Council – Excellence in Economic Development Awards – 2011 Best General Purpose Brochure
  • Economic Developers Association of Canada – Marketing Canada Awards – 2010 Best in Class
  • Economic Developers Association of Canada – Marketing Canada Awards – 2010 Best Publication (4 or more pages)
  • Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador – 2010 Torngat Award for Economic Development
